Joe Devon, GAAD co-founder, is the 2020 AIR Program Chair

GAAD Co-Founder and Founding Partner of Diamond, Joe Devon has been appointed as the 2020 Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) Program Chair. AIR is an award-winning global web accessibility competition and virtual volunteer event: teams of designers and developers compete to create accessible websites for nonprofits, community groups and artists, groups who want to be welcoming for all people but don’t usually have the resources for accessible web design.

Registration for AIR opened on June 30th and closes September 8th.

Joe is not a stranger to Knowbility. After participating as an AccessU speaker for numerous years, and as an ongoing Knowbility advocate, Joe graciously accepted the role as AIR Program Chair, where he will oversee additional Advisory Board Committee members serving in various roles that include: judging, mentoring, recruiting both teams and non-profit organizations and the promotion and sponsorship for the competition.

“Accessibility is personal. It’s personal for me and it’s personal for billions, and sooner or later it will hit everyone,” Joe said at an online event celebrating the 9th GAAD. ”Please learn about accessibility for your future self, for your loved ones, and for your fellow human.”

Since 1998 more than 4,700 people have participated as volunteers in AIR. Videos of team members talking about their experience are available on the Knowbility YouTube channel.
